The Discard Depot

Pricing

1. How much is the Discard Depot?

The Discard Depot has a $25 minimum for the first 500 lbs.  After 500 lbs., we charge $0.05/lbs. unless the item has a specified price. Please see our Discard Depot Page for more pricing details.

2. What payment methods are accepted at the Discard Depot?

We take cash, credit card, or check!

3. How do I pay at the Discard Depot?

If you don’t need a receipt, you may pay over the phone using a credit card while on the scale. If you need a receipt or would prefer to pay with cash or check, you can meet our attendant at the Discard Depot window in our main office building on your way back down the hill.

1. Do I need an appointment to come to the Discard Depot?

Nope! Just stop and we’ll be here to help you out! 

***Please arrive 30 minutes before closing time to ensure you have enough time to complete your drop off.

2. When is the Discard Depot Open?

The Discard Depot

1. What is the Discard Depot?

The Discard Depot is MEI’s waste transfer station where you can bring your non-hazardous waste for proper disposal.

2. How does the Discard Depot work?

When you arrive, simply follow the signs for the Discard Depot. You’ll be led to a large truck scale. Pull up on the scale and call the number on the sign (*Please remain in your vehicle!). Once you’re checked in and your heavy weight has been noted by the attendant, drive up and back into the building straight ahead, Door 23. You’ll then be able to dump your load. Once your truck is empty, pull back on the truck scale and call the number you called previously (*Please remain in your vehicle!). Here, the attendant will get your light weight to determine how much to charge you. If you are paying with a credit card, you can pay over the phone and be on your way. If you need a receipt or are paying with cash or check, the attendant will direct you to our main office building on you way back down the hill.

5. Is there a weight limit at the Discard Depot?

If the weight is over 17,000 lbs., an ACT 90 is required to dump at the Discard Depot.

Septic Services

Pricing

1. How much does it cost to get my septic tank pumped?

Our pricing is based off of how many gallons we pump from the tank.

Routine Pumping:

0-500 gal: $250

501-1000 gal: $285

> 1000 gal: $285 + $0.10/gal over 1000 gal

Emergency/ Same Day Pumping:

0-500 gal: $315

501-1000 gal: $360

> 1000 gal: $360 + $0.10/gal over 1000 gal

2. What payment methods are accepted?

We accept credit cards at the time of the order and cash or check at the time of service.

3. How does pricing work if I have two septic tanks?

If the tanks are on the same lot, we will charge based on the number of gallons pumped in total rather than charging separately for each tank.

4.  Are there any extra fees associated with a septic pumping?

The pricing above is specified for a septic pumping. Please see below for pricing on additional services.

Tank Location Services: $50 + $75/hour

Digging Services: $55/hour

No Service Fee: $150

Scheduling

1. How do I schedule a septic service?

You can call (724) 568 – 3623 and a member of our team will get your information and get your service scheduled.

You can also schedule online! Head over to our Septic Services Page and click “Schedule a Septic Service!”. You’ll be able to answer some questions about your tank and choose the date and time you’d like us to stop by. We’ll reach out to you within 24 hours to confirm your information and get your tank service scheduled!

2. How soon can I get my tank serviced?

We can usually make it out to service your tank within 24-48 hours, not including weekends.

3. I have two septic tanks. Can you pump them both in one appointment?

Yes. We are able to pump multiple tanks in one appointment.

4. Do I need to be present while my tank is getting pumped?

Please be present if:

  • The tank’s location is unknown
  • Access to water supply is inside the home
  • The lid of the tank is not exposed (digging is required to access the tank)
  • Payment is not secured

You do not need to be present if:

  • The tank’s location is known
  • Access to water supply outside the home
  • The lid of the tank is exposed (no digging is required to access the tank)
  • Payment has been secured

Septic Tanks

1. How often should I have my tank pumped?

It’s recommended a septic tank be pumped every 3-4 years depending on its size/usage.

2. What does my septic tank do? 

Septic tanks receive all waste water from the home, separate the solids from the wastewater flow, provide storage for the separated solids, decompose the solids, and pass clarified water to the absorption area.

3. What does MEI do for septic systems besides pumping?

MEI offers tank location services, hand digging, grease trap pumping, riser system installation, septic tank closures, and septic holding tank pumping.

4. What’s in my septic system?

A septic system contains all the waste and wastewater from the home.  

~ 40% of the contents is from the toilet

~ 30% is from the bath or shower

~ 15% is from laundry facilities

~ 10% is from the kitchen.

5. What should NOT go in my septic system? 

  • Raw and/or cooked meat
  • Varnished, paints, solvents
  • Diapers/Wipes (even “flushable”)
  • Antifreeze or motor oil
  • Paper towels or unapproved toilet tissue
  • Harsh or caustic drain cleaners
  • Cigarette filters and buttes
  • High foaming laundry detergents
  • Eggshells, bones, food scraps
  • Herbicides and/or pesticides
  • Coffee grounds
  • Plastic
  • Bleach
  • Cat litter
  • Excessive oils and/or grease

Trashbox Rentals

Pricing

1. How much does a trashbox cost?

Our prices vary depending on the size of the box. The prices below are standard rates that include free delivery and pickup as well as a 14 day rental period. Please note that extending the rental period or exceeding the weight limit will cause additional charges.

10 yd Trashbox: $325 for 14 days with a weight limit of 2 tons (4,000 lbs)

20 yd Trashbox: $425 for 14 days with a weight limit of 4 tons (8,000 lbs)

30 yd Trashbox: $525 for 14 days with a weight limit of 5 tons (10,000 lbs)

40 yd Trashbox: $650 for 14 days with a weight limit of 6.5 tons (13,000 lbs)

2. What payment methods are accepted?

We accept credit cards at the time of the order and cash or check upon delivery.

3.  Are there any extra fees associated with ordering a trashbox?

There are no additional fees charged for trashboxes that stay within the 14 day rental period and below the weight limit. Boxes that are rented over 14 days will cost an additional $30 per week. Boxes that exceed their weight limit will cost $68 per ton over their specified tonnage.

1. How do I place an order for a trashbox?

You can call (724) 568 – 3623 and a member of our team will get your information and get your order scheduled.

You can also request a box online! Head over to our Trashbox Rental Page and click “Book this Box”. You’ll be able to pick your box size, tell us where you want the box, and select your desired delivery date. We’ll reach out to you within 24 hours to confirm your order and get your box order scheduled!

2. How long do I get to keep the box?

The standard rental period for all boxes is 14 days.

3. What if I want to keep my box for longer than 2 weeks?

Just call us at (724) 568-3623 at least 24 hours before your box is due for pickup and we’d be happy to extend your order for $30/week.

4. How soon can MEI get the box to my location?

We can usually deliver a box within 24-48 hours, not including weekends.

5. Do I need to be present for my box delivery and pickup?

No.  As long as you have specified where to place the box and your payment has been secured, you do not need to be present for delivery or pickup.

6. Will my trashbox be picked up automatically?

Yes. Unless you have specified that you would like it picked up sooner or kept longer, we will pickup your box 14 days after we delivered it.

7. Can I order more than one trashbox?

Yes! As long as we have boxes available, you may order more than one box at a time.

Trashboxes

1. What can I put in my trashbox?

Household junk: Furniture, non- freon appliances, mattresses, bedding, clothing, papers, flooring

Remodeling/Construction debris: This includes items like cabinets, countertops, flooring, drywall, wood, etc.

Landscaping Debris: Branches, shrubs, trimmings, composting material (NO DIRT)

Roofing Materials: Shingles, roofing debris, flashing and underlayment are accepted (exceeding max weight will cause additional costs)

Heavy Debris: Other types of heavy debris such as asphalt, brick, etc. may be accepted (additional costs may apply)

2. What can NOT go in my trashbox?

Fuels and oils, asbestos, industrial drums and contaminated absorbents, inks, resins, adhesives. refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, tires, batteries, paints, lacquers, medical waste, electronics, liquid paints, chemicals, propane bottles, aerosol cans. Putting these items in our boxes will result in extra charges. Please see our Trashbox Rentals Page to learn why we don’t take these items and where they can be properly disposed.

3. What box should I order for my project?
